Tinklenberg alone on stage at forum

REDWOOD COUNTY -- Elwyn Tinklenberg had to share the stage Tuesday at a congressional candidate forum at Farmfest 2008, but not with his competition.
The 6th Congressional District DFL challenger answered agricultural policy questions next to candidates from other districts, but U.S. Rep. Michele Bachmann, R-Minn., did not attend and Independence Party challenger Bob Anderson was not offered a seat.
On issues from his hypothetical vote on the recently passed federal farm bill to last year's energy bill and other issues, Tinklenberg contrasted his approach to Bachmann's without anyone to rebut him.
"My opponent did not vote for it," he said of Bachmann's vote against a farm bill President Bush opposed but which passed lopsidedly in the House of Representatives. "Which may explain why she's not here today. But then again, she hasn't been with you all that much all along," Tinklenberg said.
